Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine. . The Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine (AAIM) is the nation's largest academically focused specialty organization. It consists of the Association of Professors of Medicine (APM), the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine (APDIM), the Association of Subspecialty Professors (ASP), the Clerkship Directors in Internal Medicine (CDIM), and the Administrators of Internal Medicine (AIM).

Alliance for Clinical Education. . The Alliance for Clinical Education is a multidisciplinary group that aims to enhance clinical instruction of medical students. ACE's mission is to foster collaboration across specialties to promote excellence in clinical education of medical students. Its members include representatives of the groups which direct the core clinical clerkships in most medical schools

American Association of Directors of Psychiatric Residency Training. . Provides support for directors of psychiatric residency training programs via access to association publications and selected resources on curriculum, competency tools, selected forms and program administrative tools.

Association for Surgical Education. . The Association for Surgical Education's primary goal is to promote the art and science of education in surgery. Specific objectives include: -developing innovative teaching aids and programs and effective educational interventions; designing effective faculty development programs for surgical educators; promoting and supporting research in the surgical education field; and maintaining an which offers a variety of materials to be used by faculty and students in surgical education.

Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics. . APGO is a membership-based organization for women's health educators. APGO promotes excellence in obstetric-gynecologic (Ob-Gyn) medical education by improving the study, teaching methods and research activities of professors who provide medical training for women's health care. As an organization focused on undergraduate medical education, APGO works to strengthen the Ob-Gyn clerkship. Our ultimate goal is to provide optimum health care to women.

Association of Professors of Medicine. . The Association of Professors of Medicine (APM) is the national organization of departments of internal medicine at the US medical schools and numerous affiliated teaching hospitals as represented by chairs and appointed leaders. APM's mission is to lead academic internal medicine, specifically in the education, research, and patient care arenas. To meet this mission, the association provides services, training, and educational opportunities for leaders in departments of internal medicine.

Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine. . The Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine (APDIM) is a professional and educational organization dedicated to the promotion of excellence in the training of internal medicine. APDIM sponsors two national meetings. The APDIM Web site provides access to its publications (including the Membership Newsletter and Program Manual) and its Educational Clearinghouse, a peer reviewed collection of educational training tools, models and curricula used in the residency training environment.

Clerkship Directors in Internal Medicine. . The Clerkship Directors in Internal Medicine (CDIM) is the national organization of individuals responsible for teaching internal medicine to medical students. CDIM provides a forum to share ideas, generate solutions to common problems, and create opportunities for career development. CDIM also participates in the development of innovations for curriculum, evaluation, and faculty development; encourages collaborative initiatives among medical educators; and advocates for issues undergraduate medical education.

Consortium of Neurology Clerkship Directors. American Academy of Neurology. The American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Consortium of Neurology Clerkship Directors provides a forum for the exchange of views on educational matters related to the teaching of clinical neurology to medical students. The Consortium maintains information concerning neurology clerkships at American medical schools and fosters the development of applicable educational and curricular materials.

Council on Medical Student Education in Pediatrics. . The Counsel on Medical Student Education in Pediatrics (COMSEP) champions the cause of pediatric medical student education. COMSEP functions under the auspices of the Association of Medical School Pediatric Department Chairs (AMSPDC) and offers both an annual meeting and a joint meeting with AMSPDC every third year. COMSEP task forces develop innovative curricula, new teaching methods, meaningful research, insightful evaluation methods, and a host of faculty development programs for both COMSEP and non-COMSEP pediatric educators. COMSEP has also been instrumental in fostering the personal development of Pediatric Clerkship Directors.

Pioneering Allied Health Clinical Education Reform. DHHS/HRSA Bureau of Health Professions. Proceedings of a national consensus conference funded by the Division of Associated Dental and Public Health Professions, the Bureau of Health Professions of the Health Resources and Services Administration. Participants at this meeting represented at least 22 professional societies and accrediting agencies. The purpose of this conference was to provide an opportunity to collaborate on a strategic plan for clinical education reform, and to ensure the availability of health care professionals qualified to meet the needs of patient populations and health care service providers.

Preceptor & Mentor Initiative for Health Sciences. British Columbia Academic Health Council. A project of the British Columbia (BC) Ministry of Health liaising with the BC Ministry of Advanced Education and coordinated by the Council of University Teaching Hospitals. Provides guidelines and resources for managers, preceptors and mentors in the Health Sciences in BC.

Society for Academic Emergency Medicine. . The Society for Academic Emergency Medicine's mission is to foster emergency medicine's academic environment in research, education, and health policy through forums, publications, inter-organizational collaboration, policy development, and consultation services for teachers, researchers, and students. SAEM supports excellence in both undergraduate and graduate emergency medicine education.

Society for Education in Anesthesia. . The primary site for Anesthesia education. Provides announcements of teaching workshops, resources related to improving the quality of anesthesia residency education, forums for Clerkship Directors and on Simulation Education. Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. . The Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) is dedicated to excellence in family medicine education and research through the professional enhancement of a multidisciplinary faculty developing socially conscious physicians who will provide leadership and advocacy to improve the health of all people. The Society promotes excellence and innovation in family medicine education, fosters a scholarly approach to clinical practice and teaching, assures education in the fundamentals of family medicine to all physicians, supports collaboration and collegiality within the discipline of family medicine and studies, develops, and promotes educational models that address the needs of families and communities, with emphasis on underserved populations.
