  Resource Center Health Professions Ed Associations (20 links)


Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education. The ACCME's mission is the identification, development, and promotion of standards for quality continuing medical education (CME) utilized by physicians in their maintenance of competence and incorporation of new knowledge to improve quality medical care for patients and their communities. The ACCME offer voluntary accreditation services to providers of continuing medical education who wish to be recognized for meeting its quality standards.

Alliance for Continuing Medical Education. The Alliance for CME is a membership organization that provides professional development opportunities for CME professionals, advocates for CME and the profession, and strives to improve health care outcomes. The Alliance provides educational opportunities, professional development, information exchange, and supportive services. These assist members in adapting to the changing health care environment, improving the CME activities offered for physicians, and shaping the future of the CME field.

American Association of Colleges of Nursing. The AACN is the national voice for America's baccalaureate and higher-degree nursing education programs. AACN's educational, research, governmental advocacy, data collection, publications, and other programs work to establish quality standards for nursing education, assist deans and directors to implement those standards, influence the nursing profession to improve health care, and promote public support of baccalaureate and graduate education, research, and practice in nursing.

American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine. The American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) lend support and assistance to the nation's osteopathic medical schools. The organization represents the administration, faculty and students of its member colleges in the United States and is actively involved in all areas of osteopathic medical education.

American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) is the national organization representing the interests of pharmaceutical education and educators. Comprising all U.S. pharmacy colleges and schools including more than 4,000 faculty, 36,000 students enrolled in professional programs, and 3,600 individuals pursuing graduate study, AACP is committed to excellence in pharmaceutical education.

American Dental Education Association. The mission of the American Dental Education Association is to lead individuals and institutions of the dental education community to address contemporary issues influencing education, research, and the delivery of oral health care for the improvement of the health of the public. Members include all U.S. and Canadian dental schools, advanced dental education programs, hospital dental education programs, allied dental education programs, corporations, faculty, and students.

Association for Hospital Medical Education. The AHME is a national, non-profit professional organization involved in the continuum of medical education. AHME's more than 600 members represent hundreds of teaching hospitals, academic medical centers and consortia nationwide. AHME aims to promote improvement in medical education to meet health care needs; serve as a forum and resource for medical education information; develop professionals in the field of medical education; and advocate the value of medical education in health care.

Association for Medical Education in Europe. AMEE is a worldwide association for all interested in medical and health care professions education - teachers, curriculum developers, deans, administrators, researchers and students

Association for the Study of Medical Education. ASME represents members from all areas of medical education - undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing - and from all specialties. ASME promotes knowledge and expertise in medical education via debate and exchange of ideas among its members.

Association of American Medical Colleges. The Association of American Medical Colleges represents the nation's accredited medical schools, major teaching hospitals, and their associated faculty, students and residents. The aim of the AAMC is to improve the nation's health by strengthening the quality of medical education and training, enhancing the search for biomedical knowledge, advancing research in health sciences, and integrating education into practice.

Association of Canadian Medical Colleges. The ACMC represents Canada's medical schools and provides the national voice for academic medicine in Canada. The mission of ACMC is to contribute to improving the health of all Canadians through medical education and biomedical and health research. In fulfilling its mission, ACMC collaborates closely with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada; the College of Family Physicians of Canada; the Canadian Medical Association; the Medical Council of Canada; and the Federation of Medical Licensing Authorities of Canada.

Association of School of Health Related Professions. ASAHP mission is to enhance effectiveness of education for the Allied Health Professions. To fulfill its mission, the Association strives to promote collaboration and partnerships, influence health care policy, promote and strengthen research and scholarship, promote and support academic leadership and promote high quality and innovation in education. Members include institutions offering degrees or certificates in allied health fields, agency affiliates and individual members.

Australian and New Zealand Association for Medical Education. ANZAME promotes, supports and advances education in the health professions in western Pacific region. ANZAME also facilitates communication between and among educators in the health professions and supports and disseminates health professions educational research.

Canadian Association of Medical Education. The CAME promotes excellence in all aspects of medical education in Canada. CAME advocates for medical education and medical educators by supporting faculty and educational development and encouraging research in medical education through networking and scientific activities. Membership is open to all faculty members, students, or residents of a medical school.

International Association of Medical Science Educators. IAMSA's mission is to advance medical education through faculty development and to ensure that the teaching and learning of medicine continues to be firmly grounded in science. IAMSA shares information on innovative ways to teach the medical sciences, provides a multidisciplinary forum for discussion of issues affecting medical science education and educators, and serves as an international voice to enhance the public's appreciation of the crucial role of medical science education in health and health care.

National League for Nursing. The primary goal of the NLN is to set standards that advance excellence and innovation in nursing education in order to better prepares the nursing workforce to meet the needs of diverse populations in an ever-changing health care environment. The NLN also plays a key role in shaping and influencing public policy agenda for nursing workforce development.

Society for Academic Continuing Medical Education. SACME provides a forum for leaders of academic continuing medical education (CME) and promotes research, evaluation, and development of effective CME. SACME funds and disseminates research in CME and designs and implements educational activities that focus on ways in which physicians change their professional behaviors establish a North American forum for leaders of academic continuing medical education.

The Generalists in Medical Education. The Generalists in Medical Education welcome basic scientists, clinicians, and other educators interested in medical education. We are educators who teach, conduct research, and provide support services in all areas of predoctoral, postdoctoral and continuing medical education. Specific areas of interest include curriculum and faculty development, testing and evaluation, and student services.

The Institute for International Medical Education. The mission of the Institute for International Medical Education is to collect worldwide information on requirements and standards of undergraduate medical education and to develop the global minimum essential requirements of medical education needed to equip all physicians, regardless of where they are trained, with medical knowledge, skills, professional attitudes and behavior of universal value.

World Federation for Medical Education. The World Federation for Medical Education is an umbrella organisation for its regional associations for medical education, following the regional structure of the World Health Organisation. WFME aims at enhancing the quality of medical education world-wide, taking initatives with respect to new methods, new tools, and new management. It covers all phases of medical education (graduate education, specialist training and continuing medical education).
