  Web Resources on Educational & Instructional Technology


Computer & Technology Primers. Sections include Hardware Basics, Tutorials on Common Office Applications, Tutorials & Tips on Powerpoint, The Internet and World Wide Web, Learning HTML, Using Web Page Editing Software, and Comprehensive Tutorial Collections.

Digital Media. Provides tutorials and resources on all major forms of digital media, including still images/graphics, animation, audio, video, and streaming media. Also covers the selection and use of digital media and provides useful links to several useful biomedical image collections.

Multimedia & Computer-Assisted Instruction. Sections include Multimedia Primers and Overviews; Computer-Assisted Instruction; Multimedia Design and Development; General Multimedia Tutorial Collections; Macromedia Director, Flash and Authorware Tutorials; and Bibliographic Resources on Multimedia and CAI.

Instructional Video (ITV) & Teleconferencing. Describes the underlying technology and use of instructional video (ITV) & interactive teleconferencing. Reviews facility and planning considerations and provides useful guidelines for enhancing both communication and the teaching/learning process.

Web-Based Teaching and Learning. Sections include General Quality Guidelines, Course Guidelines and Evaluation Criteria, Web-Based/Distance Education Instructional Design, Teaching Online, Meeting Accessibility Standards, and Online Collaborative Learning. Also includes links to distance education associations and resource centers and a selection of bibliographic resources on web-based & distance education.

Copyright and Fair Use. Provides access to useful Web resources and guidelines on copyright and intellectual property rights as related to instructional technology and distance education. Discusses the practical implications of the fair use statute (Copyright Act of 1976), and the recent Digital Millennium Copyright and TEACH Acts. Outlines simplified fair use guidelines and provides suggestions on how to determine the copyright status of a work and obtain proper copyright permissions.

Educational and Instructional Technology Associations. Provides links to associations and societies that support professionals, educators, trainers and institutions involved in the use of educational and information technologies and their application in teaching and learning.
