American Center for the Study of Distance Education. Penn State University. The ACSDE studies and disseminates information about distance education in all its forms. As the first center of its kind in the United States, ACSDE has helped to shape distance education practice through its publications, research symposia, leadership institutes, and moderated listserv.

American Distance Education Consortium. . ADEC is an international consortium of state and land-grant institutions providing economic distance education programs and services via the latest and most appropriate information technologies

Distance Education Clearinghouse. University of Wisconsin - Extension. A comprehensive resource on distance education information. Areas include Introduction to Distance Education, Technology, Teaching and Learning and Research.

Faculty Center. NJ Virtual University. The NJ Virtual University Faculty Center supports faculty developing online courses. It provides resources for participating faculty, serving as a clearinghouse for materials promoting teaching and learning using instructional technology.

Global Distance EducationNet. World Bank Group. Addresses how to design a distance learning course; how to use broadcast, recorded, interactive or print technologies; how to organizing distance education; and how do setup and maintain a distance education system.

Illinois Online Network. University of Illinois. ION is a collaboration of Illinois colleges and universities whose mission is to promote the effective use of networked information technologies to enhance traditional classroom instruction, and to build the foundation for developing, delivering, and supporting courses delivered in a completely online format.

Instructional Technology Council. . The ITC represents higher education institutions in the US and Canada and is leader in advancing distance education. The ITC tracks federal legislation affecting distance learning, conducts professional development meetings, supports research, and provides a forum for members to share expertise and materials.

International Centre for Distance Learning. Open University. The ICDL is an international centre for research, teaching, consultancy, information and publishing activities. ICDL promotes international research and collaboration by providing information from its library and databases.

Online Education Resources. Illinois Online Network. A selected list of Web resources dealing with various aspects of online education and the online environment in general. Topics include: Assessment and Evaluation, Communication, Instructional Design, Intellectual Property, Multimedia, Online Teaching and Learning, Software and Technology, and Web Design.

Resources in Distance Education. Athabasca University. A searchable database of Web resources that focuses on use of educational technology in distance education, with an emphasis on post-secondary resources.

Teaching & Learning on the Web. Maricopa Center for Learning and Instruction. Provides hundreds of searchable examples of how the web is being used as a medium for learning. Includes sites that range from courses delivered entirely via the web to courses that offer specific activities related to a class assignment or perhaps courses that offer class support materials via the Web.

The Wellspring - An Online Community of Distance Educators. . The Wellspring is a collaborative project from Instructional Systems Inc. and members of the Teachers College, Columbia University community. It is devoted to the needs of Distance Educators using the World Wide Web to deliver post-secondary courses to their students.

United States Distance Learning Association. . The golas of the USDLA are to provide national leadership in the field of distance learning, advocate and promote the use of distance learning, provide current information on distance learning, and represent the distance learning community before government policy and regulatory bodies.

Web Teaching at Dartmouth College. Dartmouth College. A site for educators and instructional technologists interested in exploring the many different facets of using the Web in the curriculum. Includes narrative case studies of Web teaching; articles on different aspects of using the Web in the curriculum; open discussion forums on teaching with technology; reviews of new and noteworthy resources; annotated links to useful Web sites, and pointers to downloadable teaching resources.

Western Cooperative for Educational Telecommunications. Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education. WCET is the premier organization addressing the effective use of telecommunications technology in learning, serving as a clearinghouse of information and expertise, an advocate for effective policies and practices supporting distance education, and an evaluator and researcher on the best uses of educational telecommunications.
